Baan Ayui - is Akha for ‘Our Older Sister’s house’. The hostel opened in 2007.

There are up to fifteen young people living at Baan Ayui at any one time accessing support, education and a loving home environment

In November 2009 we found a perfect place to purchase. Walking distance from our old home, and situated on the outskirts of Chiang Rai town, we are close to the local market where hilltribe people sell their produce, and not far from the Maekok River and the Sahasart Suksa School, Chiang Rai’s first school established specifically for hilltribe children where many of our children attend school.

Baan Ayui is run on a day-to-day basis by our Akha house parents who live at the hostel. The Ayui Foundation ensures that the young people are supported in their culture and traditions - the house is just down the street from the Akha Association and we have strong Akha representation on our Board.

Our house parents are supported closely through the hands-on involvement from The Ayui Foundation’s Director and Board.  Volunteers also often come and visit our hostel helping support the work of The Ayui Foundation - if you are interested in finding out more please click here for more information.
